Our Story Continued

On Easter Sunday of 1871, a new church building was dedicated on the corner of First and Muskegon Avenue. God blessed the ministry in its downtown location for many years. Many came to know Christ, The Sunday School flourished, and the membership grew.

In the early 1970's, it became evident that the location of the church was becoming a negative factor for continued growth and ministry, reflected in a decrease in attendance and the inability to attract new members. A long range planning effort began and culminated in the purchase of land and the construction of our present sanctuary, which was dedicated on July 10, 1983, as Forest Park Covenant Church. God has blessed the faith and vision of those who made the move from downtown, and the church has more than tripled in attendance since that time.

An addition was completed in 1991 to meet the needs more adequately of our expanding congregation and its ministries. Our prayer is that God will keep us obedient to His will for our church; that we will win others to Christ as a mission outpost of the gospel; and that He will continue to use us to effectively minister to the needs of the Muskegon community.

For God is not a God of disorder, but pf peace… Everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.
